International audience. The main interest of this paper lies in the implementation of an obstacle alert application aiming at improving the autonomy of people using a wheelchair. This application is designed on a heterogeneous, open and configurable data recording device. An analysis of the data collected during the tests carried out allows to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed solution and to consider new axes of improvement. .
