Students and teachers of the Université Catholique de Lille have access to the library, upon presentation of their student/staff card.
2. I am not a Université Catholique de Lille student/teacher, can I have access to the university library ?
It is possible to register as an external reader if you are not affiliated with the university.
3. I have forgotten/lost my card, can I still study at the library ?
It is necessary for students or teachers affiliated with the Université Catholique de Lille to have a membership card in order to enter the library. Exceptionally, entrance may be authorised upon presentation of proof of registration for the current year. If a card is lost or stolen for faculty members, please inquire at the reception of the University's 'Hôtel Académique'. For school/faculty members, please contact your school services (chargeable card replacement).
4. I have not received my student card yet, can I have access to the library ?
Students who have not received their card yet can enter the library upon presentation of proof of registration for the current year..
1. What is a reader account ? What does it give me access to ?
Your reader account allows you to access different library services: WiFi connexion (WIFI_BUV), access to electronic resources and the use of the library's printers.
2. How can to login into my reader account ?
You can access your reader account with the "Login" button on the home page :
- If you're a student at EDHEC Business School, IFP or IKPO, you need to proceed to a new registration on this website : click on "Login then on "Authentication for EDHEC Business School, IFP, IKPO (students and staff)", click sur Register (underneath the Login button), complete the form and attach your school certificate for the current year. We will validate your registration as soon as possible.
- If you belong to any other school : click on "All other institutions (students or staff)". Then enter the credentials provided by your school for emails and student platforms. If your email ends with @lacatholille : use your AGORA credentials, for IESEG : use your IESEG credentials, for Junia : use your AURION credentials.
3. I have completed my studies, but I would like to continue to benefit from the electronic resources. Is that possible ?
Access to electronic resources is authorised to students who are enrolled for the current academic year and to staff members of the Université Catholique de Lille.
Former students are not allowed to consult electronic resources.
4. I get an "http error 500" error message when I try to consult an electronic resource. What can I do ?
It is a problem of compatibility between the authentification system and the browser used. In order to consult electronic resources, the language of your browser has to be in English or French. We would therefore ask you to follow the procedure according to your browser: Safari; Mozilla; Firefox; Google Chrome.
5. I am unable to consult an ebook. What can I do ?
Depending on the editor, it is recommended to download a free software to read ebooks. The Acrobat Reader software generally suffices. For other editors, the use of a specific software is required:

6. I would like to download an article but access is denied because chargeable. What can I do ?
In order to identify the problem, a verification is necessary:
- Make sure that you are logged in to the Library OnLine document portal Library OnLine with your login name.
- Observe the URL: if the link mentions the name of the university, you are identified as an authorised user.
In that case, it means the article is not part of the Library's subscription. If the reference is requested, we invite you to contact the inter-library loan service.
- If the name of the university is not mentioned, please contact us! This might indeed be due to a technical problem.
7. I am doing a traineeship in a company. What are the terms of use for the electronic resources ?
When you are doing a traineeship, electronic documentation can be used to draft a training report or a dissertation. It is strictly prohibited to let a company or a third party benefit from these data as part of professional tasks.
8. What are the authorised uses for electronic resources ?
The Vauban university library on behalf of the Université Catholique de Lille signs a license agreement with the editors or providers of electronic resources. These contractual documents regulate the terms of use of the resources by the users. Generally speaking:
1. Electronic resources are only accessible via the BU website thanks to personal and unassignable logins;
2. The use is limited to library users (students, teachers, researches and administrative staff) and within the framework of studies, teaching and research. During a traineeship, a student can use electronic documentation to draft a training report or a dissertation. But it is strictly prohibited to let a company or a third party benefit from these data as part of professional tasks.

1. How to search for a document ? (monograph, journal, non-computerised resources)
To find a book or journal in our collections, you can search our catalogue which is avalaible from the homepage. It is possible to refine one's search among the proposed results (by date, author, location, etc.). Discover here the libraries different catalogues.
2. How to consult electronic resources? (articles, e-books)
Electronic resources are accessible from the research "Online resources», and retrievable with your account login.
3. How can I find a publication in the shelves with its shelf number ?
Classification plans are displayed in the library to help you to locate a document with its shelf number.
4. The document I am looking for is not available at the university library. Is there another way to consult it ?
When a document is not available at the university library, it is possible to request an inter-library loan to obtain it from another institution. Our suggestion for purchase form also enables you to submit a purchase proposal to our librarians.
1. How many documents can I borrow ? For how long ?
Students : you can borrow up 12 documents for a period of 21 days, renewable twice.
External readers : you can borrow up 12 documents for a period of 21 days, renewable twice.
Staff :you can borrow up 20 documents for a period of 28 days, renewable twice.
2. Can I renew ?
Studiants : you can renew twice for a period of 21 days each time.
Personnels: you can renew twice for a period of 28 days each time.
Extérieurs : you can renew twice for a period of 21 days each time.
Renewing your loans is only possible starting 5 days before the due date. You are entitled to 2 renewal per item as long as it has not been reserved by someone else. The return date is based ont the initial return date.
You can renew your loans online, using your reader account on the website.
According the rules and regulations, any renewal has to be made before or the day of the return day, or you will be subject to a ban from borrowing.
3. The document I want to borrow is already loaned by someone else, can I reserve it ?
You can reserve a book already borrowed by another reader.
4. I'm late returning my loans, will I be sanctioned ?
Any lateness returning documents will be subdject to penalties (Toute restitution après la date prévue entraîne des pénalités (one day of delay = one day ban from borrowing).
5. The document I want to read is located in "Magasin" or "Réserve locale", how may I get it ?
Documents in "Réserve locale" have to be asked for at the front desk of the library.
Documents in "Magasin" are unavailable until further notice.
6. The document I want to read is located in another library, how may I get it ?
You can get a book from another library by reserving it on the website.
7. I want to donate documents to the library, how to procede ?
A small number of documents can be deposited directly at the reception desk of the library. An acknowledgement of receipt will have to be completed and signed in duplicate. Visit our charter for more information on on the treatment of donations.
8. I need a quitus, how may I get one ?
You can ask for one at the front desk or send us a request by completing this form.

2. Can I use the library's computers ?
Twelve computers are available, on the ground floor and other floors. Their are free of use and don't require access codes.
Three computers for bibliographic research are also available for quick searches.
3. Can I print / copy / scan a document?
